Why MX records matter
Before any email reaches an inbox, the sending server looks up the recipient domain's MX records to find out where to deliver. If a domain has no MX records, mail to that domain bounces immediately. Checking MX is the fastest way to rule out a whole domain — but it can't confirm that a specific mailbox exists, which is where full email verification comes in.
