How verification works
What actually happens when you verify an address — and where the method has limits.
Every verification runs the same battery of checks, whether it comes from the dashboard, a CSV import, or the API. Each check is reported individually in the result, so you can see why an address was scored the way it was — not just a green or red dot.
What we look at
A verdict is never a single test. ClearMX combines several independent signals about an address — whether it's even well-formed, whether its domain can receive mail at all, whether the mailbox behind it actually exists, and whether it carries risk markers like disposable domains or shared role inboxes. How those signals are gathered, weighted and cross-checked is our secret sauce; what you always get is every signal spelled out in the result, so nothing is a black box for you.
No email is ever sent
The part worth being loud about: verifying an address never sends it an email. Mailbox existence is confirmed at the mail-server level without ever transmitting message content. The address being verified receives nothing, and nothing ends up in anyone's spam folder because of a check — you can safely verify a list of customers without a single one of them noticing.
Results you can act on
Everything rolls up into one of four results — deliverable,
risky, undeliverable or unknown —
with a score and a plain reason. We'd rather tell you unknown honestly
than fake a confident answer: an honest unknown costs you one contact,
a fake deliverable costs you sender reputation.
Where the method has limits
No verifier on the market can confirm every mailbox, and we won't pretend otherwise. Some domains accept every address and sort out the bad ones later — those results are marked lower-confidence instead of being sold as verified. A few large consumer providers resist mailbox checks entirely; there we lean on the remaining signals and say so in the result. If a tool promises a definitive answer for every address, it's guessing on the hard ones.
Data handling
- Your lists are yours. Addresses you verify are processed to produce results, kept so you can review and export them, and deletable at any time. We never sell, share or reuse them. See the Privacy Policy.
- EU hosting. The service runs on EU infrastructure (Hetzner, Finland).
- Payments. Handled entirely by Stripe — card details never touch our servers.
- Outbound email. The application sends exactly two kinds of email: team invitations you trigger yourself, and password resets. Nothing else — and never to addresses being verified.
